The Egyptian Networks Company, EgyNet was established in 1998 by a team of knowledgeable and experienced shareholders, who previously established and operated leading companies in the IT/Telecom sectors. EgyNet built and operated the first privately-owned Public Data Network, PDN, in Egypt and the Region. We acquired the latest Telecom infrastructure technologies from prominent telecom manufacturers to start offering world-class services. The Network grew in size and coverage till it became the largest in offering Frame Relay and ATM services. With high quality of service and dedicated staff, EgyNet succeeded in interconnecting the vast majority of the financial institutions in addition to other corporations Nationwide in the first eighteen months of operation.
After great success in this domain, EgyNet obtained an Internet Class-A license allowing it to build its own Internet backbone, and buy/sell Internet bandwidth. EgyNet bought majority shares in two prominent ISPs, Soficom Communications and Internet Egypt. This allowed EgyNet to grab a significant market share in the Internet services domain. The license was upgraded in 2001 to include ADSL. DSL services were offered in Egypt for the first time to Corporations and Individuals as part of EgyNet's Internet services portfolio. With the growth in numbers of Internet users and the introduction of revenue share models between Telecom Egypt and the Internet Service Providers for the hours consumed on the Internet, EgyNet started to offer dialup infrastructure lease services. The robust Network and Nationwide coverage positioned EgyNet as the largest infrastructure provider for virtual ISPs.
Our commitment to our customers is not simply based on acquiring the latest technologies, but about the means and the people who operate such technologies and their delivery methodologies.
